Located in Hwange, Matabeleland North, Zimbabwe, the plant is invested and developed by Zhong An Coking & Power Company (Private) Limited.
The long‑term planned total installed capacity is 6 units. Phase‑1 will construct 2×160MW high‑temperature, ultra‑high‑pressure air‑cooled generator units.
A 14.5‑km‑long 400kV transmission line will connect the power station to Hwange‑B Substation. Electricity will supply on‑site mines, local industrial consumers, with surplus power fed into the national grid (ZETDC).
Supported by the company’s own coal mines and coal‑washing facilities, the coal‑coking‑power integration project will greatly improve Zimbabwe’s power supply capacity and boost local industrial‑mining economic growth.
